FAQs
Why do I have to use a credit/debit card to book an appointment? Am I being charged?
We don't charge any money upfront!

The only way you'll be charged is if you don't show up for your appointment, then you will be charged a $100 cancellation fee to the card you have on file.

If you request matching tattoos and your group does not show up for the appointment, the person responsible for booking will be charged $100 for each person.

(We hate this part of operating a business, but we do it this way to make sure that our time is being respected.)
I have a low pain tolerance. Is there anything I can do to minimize the pain?
Unfortunately, pain is a part of the tattoo process. We do everything we can to minimize your discomfort, but don't let the threat of pain deter you! We don't recommend using numbing creams prior to the tattoo.
Should I eat before getting tattooed?
Yes absolutely! It is never a good idea to get tattooed on an empty stomach. Regardless of how many tattoos you've had in the past, you can experience a blood sugar drop followed by a blood pressure drop! Having a little to eat prior to your appointment will help ensure you don't feel woozy!
Can I bring snacks/drinks
Always! We generally have candy and water, but if you prefer to bring your own snacks/drinks you are definitely welcome to. We have access to a microwave and a fridge for your convenience. You are also able to order food and have it delivered to the studio.
I'm running late. How long till I'm considered a no-show?
Since our shop is located on Central Ave, traveling times can vary greatly. If you tell us ahead of time you're running late, generally it's not a problem.

All clients get a 15 minute courtesy window before we reach out to you confirm you're still coming. If we don't hear from you, you will be considered a no-show 30 minutes after the start of your original appointment.
How much do you charge?
We generally work off your budget, but we do have a minimum of $120.

Since we primarily do custom work here, we ask clients to tell us how much they want to spend on their piece.

If you have a piece you want, but you only want to spend $300 max. Let us know that in the questionnaire description!

We're always willing to work with people to create something that fits into their budget but also doesn't take advantage of us as artists.
Where should I park?
There is free parking in front of the building. You may park in any available spot! There is an old sign that warns people not to park there, or they will be towed - that business is no longer in the building, so there is not threat of being towed!
If there are no available spots in the front, you are welcome to use the one-way alley/street between our building and Domino's to access the back parking lot.
What's the easiest way to turn left onto Central?
Central Ave is quite busy, so turning left directly out of our front parking lot can be difficult/unsafe.
If you need to turn left on Central (toward the highway ramps), we always recommend utilizing the one way alley/street between our building and Domino's to access the back parking lot.
From there, you are able to turn left onto a residential street, Nicholas Drive. This road brings you directly to a light where you are able to turn left safely.
Can I bring a friend with me?
Always! Friends and family are always welcome to join you during your appointments provided that they are not a hinderance to the tattoo process.
Do you do piercings?
Unfortunately no, at this time we do not offer piercings.
Do I tip on a tattoo?
The short answer, yes - you should. While tips are never expected, they are very appreciated.
Generally it's customary to tip anyone who is performing a personal service for you.
The same as other services, tattoo gratuity is usually around 20% of the overall price.

Can I bring my child/children?
Depends. Are they well behaved?
We have had children in the shop before, so it's hard for us to say no when someone isn't able to find babysitting coverage. However, this is not a kid friendly environment. While it's not dangerous, it is certainly not baby/toddler proof and it is definitely not entertaining to children. Kids are usually very excited to be here for the first 10 minutes, until they realize that watching a tattoo is not super fun for them.
We strongly encourage people to find babysitters so you can enjoy a distraction free experience.
My babysitter cancelled last minute! Will I be charged a cancellation fee if I can't make it?
Naaaaah. We get it! Life happens. Obviously if cancellations are a habit - we will need to charge the cancellation fee, but fees are at our discretion. If you run into an unavoidable thing like someone else cancelling on you, we will just reschedule!
This is my first tattoo, what should I do?
Getting a first tattoo is super exciting! Here are some tips:
-
Eat prior to getting your tattoo (you don't need to be stuffed, but don't go on an empty stomach!)
-
Bring water/drink and a snack to your appointment
-
Make sure you are wearing clothing that allows access to the part of your body you want to get tattooed
-
You do not need to shave any area of your body beforehand.
-
You do not need to exfoliate, but we do recommend showering/bathing the night/morning before.
Why will I be charged $100 if I don't show up?
When you book an appointment with Pinpoint Art, you artist will prepare artwork ahead of time. The no-show fee of $100 helps to cover the amount of time that was already spent preparing for your piece.
Can you tattoo over scars?
Sometimes!
If a scar still has any pink to it - it could indicate that the tissue is still healing. In those cases, we typically don't tattoo over them.
If the scars are completely healed, we can go over them. Unfortunately there is no way for us to predict how tattooing over scars will feel for the client. Some people are completely unbothered, while others say that the scars hurt more to tattoo over.

Ultimately, if you have a scar or scars you want to go over, just ask us! We're happy to help come up with a plan for you!
What is your weather policy?
Your tattoo experience should always be safe!
That includes the drive to our studio. We are located in Upstate, NY and weather can vary greatly. If your appointment is rescheduled due to weather, you will not be charged any fees.
